SENIOR YEAR

(2023-2024)

Sports Intro Video

The first project of our senior year was to design a sports intro video that we could use for a segment of the morning announcements known as "RBR Top 5."

I collected short clips I recorded of the best moments of RBR sports from last year to use in the intro, and then found music fitting for the hyped up energy that the clips brought.

Class Intro Video

For our second project of the school year, we were tasked with created an intro video to introduce our level of Media Production. I decided to make a Lion King inspired introduction to introduce Ray and I.

In order to create my intro, I needed to create a cutout of Ray since he was not in class for the entire week. I used this cutout of Ray in place of him, and then began filming cinematic clips that matched the style of the scene in The Lion King. I then edited these clips together to match the music and added cinematic text to finish it.

Voting PSA Video

Our third project of the year was to create a voting video to submit to the Voting PSA contest. I wanted to create a very unique video and decided on the idea of a man who doesn't vote because he assumes the candidate he likes will win, but he is wrong and he slowly sees his town lose its charm.

I created a script, filmed the scenes I needed to, and then brought everything into Premiere Pro to edit together. I chose very emotional music and made the video very heartfelt, exactly how I planned for it to be.

Serious PSA Video

Next, we were assigned a Serious PSA Video. I decided to create a video about Fake News, as that is something has become very prevelent in our world. I made my video about a man who reads that a space exploration mission failed and they need money, but he does not realize that the news he is reading is untrue.

I created a script, and in the end the man ends up donating to the fake cause. I filmed all the clips I needed and ended up making it very cinematic in the middle of the video. My PSA was complete.

Funny PSA Video

After our Serious PSAs, we were assigned Funny PSAs. I wanted to mock how much people our age use their cell phone, so I decided that my Funny PSA will be an announcement describing the benefits of always being on your phone.

I filmed this PSA with Ray, who was the one that was feeling down because he did not have his phone. I then added in graphics showing the benefits of being on your phone, and it all had a sarcastic undertone.

Holiday Scene Video

We were assigned to recreate a Holiday Scene for the announcements, but we decided with Mr. Grillo to instead make a commercial promoting the new gear in the morning announcements.

The commeical was modeled off of a Sprite commercial with LeBron James, and I rewrote the exact script of the commercial to fit our academy and what we wanted to promote. I then edited all of the clips in Premiere Pro and created the final product.

Commercial Video

Our next project was to create a commercial advertising a random object, which Mr. Grillo helped us decide on. My object was a toy monster truck, and I decided to spin it as a toy truck that helps you focus in school.

I advertised the truck's relaxing colors, the soothing sound of the wheels, and its low weight, which made it easy to carry around. I then compiled all of my clips into one video with Premiere Pro and my commercial was complete.

How To Submit Announcements

For this project we were required to create a How To video for the morning announcements. I decided to create a video explaining how to submit videos to our morning announcements.

I made a skit that shows somebody wanting to submit their video to the announcements, and then explained how to do so.

How To Organize your Computer

After our last project, we needed to create another How To video that was not going to go on the morning announcements. I decided to make a video explaining how to organize your computer, as that is a very useful skill in today's world.

I narrated a point-of-view style video and explained various different steps that can help a person keep their computer neat.

Script Switch

This project was very unique. Ray and I were each told to create a script for a short movie idea that we had. Then, we swapped the scripts and filmed each others ideas.

Ray's film was about being late to class, but it was meant to be filmed in a very extreme and suspenseful manner. I filmed this project staying as close to his original script as possible, and I am happy with how it came out.

Line Art

One of our last projects of the year was to create line art of both a celebrity and of ourselves. Mr. Grillo provided instructions on how to create line art based off of an image of our choice and I got to work.

I decided to make my first line art of one of Ray's favorite musicians, Les Claypool. I did not make this one as detailed, but it helped me get the hang of creating the line art. I then worked on the self line art, which I used my senior picture for. This one turned out very good, and Mr. Grillo showed me how to color it in well. I am happy with how it came out.

Highlights

Our last individual project of the year was a highlight reel/video of choice. I decided to create a ranking of my top 5 favorite films that I've made in my 4 years taking this class.

I did a voiceover to explain why each video was ranked where it was, and then input clips from each video as I explained them. I think this was a good way to recount my experience taking this class.

Red Carpet

Our very last Red Carpet was a special one. For this project, Ray and I decided to create a found footage style horror film. We decided to call this film "Drainiard" and it centered around mysterious lights that have been causing havoc in a certain town.

We filmed this project in Ray's backyard using a mix of high-definition cameras and our phones. Once we had all of our footage, we were able to edit on overlays to make the film seem as if it were found on a camera and organized into what is our movie. We presented this at the Red Carpet event and it was a hit. I'm very glad that our project came out the way it did.
