SOPHOMORE YEAR

(2021-2022)

Media Production Logos

For the first project of our sophomore year, we had to design new logos for our academy, which went through a name change and was now known as the Media Production Academy. I started by brainstorming four different designs and then would build on these ideas.

I ended up with the four designs shown and began finalizing these specific ideas. Once I came up with finalized versions of each logo, I submitted them to Mr. Grillo and we began a vote on which logo would be chosen to represent our academy.

New Personal Logos

For the second project of the year, we had to redesign or design new personal logos to use for our projects throughout the year. I really liked how my last year's logos came out, so I decided to improve upon these logos and create more versions to be able to use.

I decided on creating a circular logo that I would be able to put in the corners of designs. I did this by creating a black circle and then making the A and S sign as a mask, which I then used to erase parts of the circle. I then created a version of this logo with the A and the S moved up and my name below it.

2D Stop Motion

For our third project, we had to create a 2D stop motion film. For my project, I worked together with my classmate to create a two-part horror film, one of them being a prequel. Our movie was about a man who falls down a well, causing him to become a Halloween killer, titled "The Well."

To create our film, we started making cutout characters and drew scenes on large pieces of poster paper. We then set up a tripod to capture many images from the same angle. We then uploaded our pictures to Premiere Pro, cut them to adjust the frame rate, and our film was complete.

Intros

For our fourth project, we were tasked with creating an intro to our class that is based of some sort of movie or TV show. I chose to base my intro off of the popular TV show Squid Game's intro. It would include camera angles similar to the Squid Game intro and also be in black and white.

To create my film, I spent a few days recording footage that would be similar to the Squid Game intro. I then uploaded this footage to my computer, loaded it into Premiere Pro, and started editing my film. I also animated a logo that resembled the Squid Game animated logo from the TV show. I finished up editing and my Squid Game intro was complete.

Horror Film Trailer

Our fifth project was to create our very own trailer for a made-up horror movie. This project mostly took place at home because school was shut down, so I decided to make use out of the snow at home. My trailer would be about a killer who's weapon is a snow blow, one that would be covered in blood.

I filmed outside in the snow and got shots of the snow plow, even making fake blood to give the trailer the true horror feel. I then uploaded my clips to Premiere Pro, added an intense soundtrack, and my trailer was complete.

Trailer in a Different Genre

Our next project was chose a movie trailer and recreate it in a different genre. I chose to recreate the movie Avengers in a romantic comedy style of film. I gathered clips and began to create my trailer.

In order to get the full romance effect, I chose very romantic music that I would base my trailer around. I then put my clips into the timeline, editing them in a way that would reveal the more soft and sappy scenes from Avengers. I then added text that would hint at a romantic plot, and my trailer was finished.

Fan Made Movie Trailer

For our next project, we were assigned a fan made movie trailer to create. I decided to create a fan made Star Wars spin-off, which I decided to call Star Wars: Kylo Ren. I also used a fan made Star Wars remix as the music for my trailer.

I started by downloading different clips from newer Star Wars movies and planned out where they would go. I then started creating the titles for my film and added them to the end of my trailer. My Star Wars fan made trailer was complete.

Hype Movie Trailer

Our next project involved us creating a "hype movie trailer" or some sort of edit of a movie of our choice to music. The music I decided to use is "Still D.R.E" by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog.

I again downloaded different clips from the movie and then started placing them so that they would compliment my music of choice. I then added different flashing titles and organized the clips so there was some sort of plot. I then exported my video and completed my hype movie trailer.

Recreate a Movie Scene

The next project assigned to us was to recreate a movie scene of choice. For my movie, I decided to recreate the clone marching scene from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. This would involve me cloning myself in Premiere Pro and aligning the clips so it looks like the clones of me are marching.

To begin, I recorded myself from different angles in front of a green screen, and then uploaded them to Premiere Pro. I then copy and pasted the clip many times to create the clones, resized them to make them look realistic, and color-graded them all. I added the music, some filler clips from the film, and my Star Wars scene recreate was complete.

Safe Driving PSA

Our next project played a part in an even bigger effort in our RBRHSDBD campaign. This campaign was a "Don't Be Distracted" driving campaign, and we ended up going to Six Flags at the end of the year for the competition that our campaign was for. We each had to create an individual "drive safe" video to promote safe driving.

I decided to use my friend's Dodge Challenger to film, and made my film about the use of seatbelts. We went to Fort Monmouth in Oceanport to film, and then after filming I uploaded my clips to Premiere Pro. I then added music, a voice overlay because of the bad audio, and titles. My safe driving PSA was complete.

Red Carpet Film

Our final project was to create a film that would be featured in our "Red Carpet Event." This is an assembly that will be held as a showcase for the Media Production Academy's work. I decided to create a film that highlights the work done in the class, in a cinematic and epic way.

I started by gathering my clips, which are a bunch of different shots of typical things involved in creating a video in the class. I used a Crazy Train remix I found online for the music, and aligned the clips so that they would flow and look visually appealing. I then worked on adding all sorts of titles and visual effects that would show that the video is about Media Production. My "Red Carpet Event" project was complete.
